Shotlink guides / Google Forms QR codes
Share a Google Form with a short link and QR code
Give people one easy route to an event registration, feedback form, or attendance form. A QR code opens the same short link, so both follow the same expiry time.
Guest: up to 30 minutes. Workspace: up to 7 days. No payment details needed for Free.
How to use it
Copy the respondent link
Use the link intended for people filling in your form. Do not share an editing link. Open it in a signed-out browser first to check whether your audience can respond.
Choose a link lifetime
For a quick test, the homepage offers links lasting 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes. For an event registration window, create and verify a free workspace; link expiry can be set up to seven days.
Create the short link and QR
Paste the respondent URL into Shotlink, confirm you are authorised to share it, and create the link. Copy the short URL or download its QR image.
Test as a respondent
Scan the final QR on another device. Confirm the correct form opens and accepts responses. Keep a readable destination or alternative contact alongside printed codes.
Before you share
- Shortening does not change Google Form access permissions or response settings.
- Closing a form and expiring a Shotlink are separate actions. Check both when registrations end.
- Shotlink does not automatically discover new forms or collect their responses.
- A QR image remains on paper after the link expires. Avoid permanent signage for a time-limited route.
Common questions
Will this make a restricted form public?
No. Google controls access to the form. Shotlink only redirects the visitor.
Can I track completed responses?
Shotlink records link-click activity in a workspace. A click does not prove that a visitor submitted the form; check responses in the form itself.
